Jason pitches a two player game about Conserving VS Developing.
Taking out some number of cards only matters if you plan on going through the entire deck one or more times during the course of the game. In magic, you might only see the top 20 cards of your deck over the course of a game unless you have something that lets you search your deck, so saying “you can’t see these 4 cards!” doesn’t matter if you wouldn’t have seen them anyway.
Other games that use the mechanic: No Thanks, Zooloretto (with tiles instead of cards)
Not to be Mr. Negative, but I think Lost Cities would have a problem if you took out cards. The game relies on the same cards being in the deck for planning and scoring purposes. I think what might be _more_ interesting that taking out cards would be if some number of extra bonus cards were _added_ to Lost Cities. Still, I like Lost Cities as is.
